Wagholi, 20th January 2023: Wagholi residents have been suffering for years due to improper connecting roads and interrupted water supply despite paying crores. The residents have, hence, decided to protest peacefully against the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA).
Today at around 11.00 am, the protest started at the Bakori Phata. Starting at the PMC office in Wagholi, the protest moved towards the main offices of PMC and PMRDA.
Protesters raised slogans against the government, Pune Municipal Commissioner, and the administration. Slogans like ‘Hume Chahiye Road, Air Pani, Nahi Chalegi Manmani’, ‘PMC Murdabad, PMRDA Murdabad’, were raised.
Protestors clarified that they are currently protesting in the Wagholi Ward Office of PMC, and if the commissioner does not show up at the protest by Monday, then the protestors, along with the citizens of Wagholi, will visit the commissioner themselves. Protectors stated that the agitation will go on until their problems are solved.
According to the current information, few protestors were briefly detained by the Lonikand police station and then released.
Senior Police Inspector Gajanan Pawar said that nobody is detained now.
