Pune: Wakad Police Arrest Youth Who Became Chain Snatcher To Meet Demands Of Wife, Learnt Tricks From YouTube Videos

Pimpri Chinchwad, 10th July 2021: A 20-year-old man has been arrested by Wakad police station for allegedly snatching gold chains of women in Pimpri Chinchwad areas. Police said that the accused got in the crime to fulfil the demands of his wife and had learnt the tricks from YouTube videos.

The arrested accused has been identified as Saurabh Arun Yadav, a resident of Nigdi. Police have recovered 120 gram gold ornaments and a two-wheeler, totally worth Rs 6.13 lakh.

According to police, Saurabh works as a delivery boy in a reputed food delivery company. He earned about Rs 10,000 per month. However, the recent love marriage and the desire to satisfy his wife’s demands put him under financial strain. He turned to chain snatching. He used to watch videos of chains snatching on YouTube and steal them while delivering food. For the past six months, he has been involved in chain snatching.

On June 21, a police team nabbed him near Dhangar Baba temple in Kalewadi. Police said that there are seven cases registered against him including four at Chinchwad police station, two at Wakad police station and one at Nigdi police station.

The action was taken under the guidance of Police Commissioner Krishna Prakash, Additional Commissioner of Police Ramnath Pokale, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 2) Anand Bhoite, ACP (Wakad division) Shrikant Disle and Senior Police Inspector Vivek Mugalikar.

The team included Police Inspectors Santosh Patil, Sunil Tonpe, Assistant Police Inspectors Santosh Patil, Abhijeet Jadhav and policemen Vijay Gambhire, Vikram Kudal, Prashant Gilbile, Nitin Gengje, Suraj Sutar, Vibhishan Kanherkar, Babajan Inamdar, Bapu Dhumal, Nitin Dhorje, Pramod Kadam, Vandu Gire, Ravindra Kale, Tatya Shinde, Javed Pathan, Kaunteya Kharade, Atish Jadhav and Kalpesh Patil.
