Pune: Wakad Police Makes Breakthrough In Two-Wheeler Theft Cases, Recovers 43 Motorcycles

Wakad, 9th April 2023: The sleuths from the detection branch of Wakad Police Station under Pimpri Chinchwad police have made a breakthrough in curbing the increasing incidents of two-wheeler theft in Pimpri Chinchwad city. The team was able to recover a total of 43 two-wheelers worth Rs 21.50 lakhs from the accused.

Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey has ordered a special campaign to uncover the crimes of vehicle theft.

Acting on a tip-off received by API Santosh Patil, the Wakad police station team nabbed a thief selling a stolen motorcycle in Tapkir Mala Chowk. The thief, Nitin Rajendra Shinde (20) of Ashti in Beed district, was found with a stolen Honda Shine bike which was stolen from Rahatani area.

Addressing a press conference yesterday, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 2) Dr. Kakasaheb Dole said that during further investigation Shinde’s main accomplice, Keshav Mahadev Padole, was caught along with other accomplices, Navnath Suresh Mutkule, Krishikesh Ajinath Bhopale, and Amol Dagdu Padole. They were arrested from different places, and after conducting a thorough investigation with them, the team has detected 36 crimes in the Wakad police station area, four from Hinjawadi police station area, seven from Baramati Taluka police station area, three from Rajnangaon police station, two from Ahmednagar Camp police station and one each crime from Walunj MIDC (Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar), Pathardi, Kotwali, Karjat, and Srigonda police stations in Ahmednagar district. The total number of cases detected was 36, with 43 motorcycles recovered.

DCP Dole added, “In addition to the 36 cases, the team seized another seven motorcycles from the accused and is currently conducting further investigation. The accused used to steal motorcycles and sell them in the locality, and a total of 17 persons are being prosecuted under section 411 of the IPC for buying stolen motorcycles despite knowing that they are stolen.”

Police have appealed to citizens to be vigilant and not buy any vehicle without verifying the documents and authenticity of the motorcycle.
The investigation was conducted under the supervision of Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey, Joint CP Manoj Lohiya, Additional Commissioner of Police Sanjay Shinde, DCP Dole, and ACP Shrikant Disale.
