Pune: Wakad Police Parade Accused Of Beating Youth With Belt For Not Addressing Their ‘Leader’ As ‘Bhai’ On Phone

Wakad, 30th January 2022: A few days back a video of youth eating biscuits lying on the ground and being assaulted with a belt had gone viral in Pimpri Chinchwad. It was revealed that the accused was beating him as he had failed to address the accused as ‘Bhai’ on phone.
Later, an FIR was registered by the 20-year-old victim youth, a resident of Tathwade, against seven persons including three minor boys.
Today officials from Wakad police station under Pimpri Chinchwad police nabbed three of them. However, the main accused Gangya alias Rohan Waghmare of 16 Number in Thergaon is absconding.
The arrested accused have been identified as Prakash Bhiwa Ingole (20) of Kalakhadak in Wakad, Prashant Athavale of Shiv Colony in Ganeshnagar area of Thergaon and Ajit alias Aditya Sunil Kate (20) of Walumata dairy farm area in Tathawade.
According to police, accused Waghmare and his accomplices had assaulted the youth around 10.30 pm on January 25 at Laundry Chowk in Ganeshnagar, Thergaon. The youth was forced to eat biscuits on the ground and brutally assaulted with a belt by Waghmare.
Today, the arrested accused persons were tonsured and paraded in the area to instil confidence among local residents who were terrorised by the accused, police officials said.
Senior Police Inspector Dr Vivek Muglikar, in-charge of Wakad police station, said that a judicial magistrate court has remanded the accused persons in police custody till February 1. All three minor boys (all aged 14 years) are also detained.
The action was taken under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Krishna Prakash, Additional Commissioner of Police Dr Sanjay Shinde, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 2) Anand Bhoite, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Wakad Division) Shrikant Disale.
The team included Police Inspectors (Crime) Santosh Patil, Ramchandra Ghadge, API Abhijeet Jadhav, PSI Ganesh Torgal, Sangita Gode and police personnel Rajendra Kale, Babajan Inamdar, Vandu Gire, Pramod Kadam, Kalpesh Patil, Atiq Sheikh, Deva Waghmare, Atish Jadhav and Deepak Sable.
