Pune: Wakad Resident Falls Victim to Part Time ‘Online Task’ Job Scam, Loses Rs 7.87 Lakhs

Wakad, 23rd December 2023: In a fraudulent scheme, a 35-year-old man from Wakad was duped of a substantial sum amounting to seven lakh 87 thousand rupees. The victim, who had been promised a part-time job, fell prey to the scam between April 23 and December 22, 2023.

The victim filed a complaint with the Wakad police station (Pimpri Chinchwad Police), leading to the registration of a case against the perpetrator identified through the WhatsApp number 8584008666. The accused is also the owner of the website globlebtcdeal.com. Additionally, the complaint includes eight account holders from various banks.

According to the police investigation, the accused initiated contact with the victim through WhatsApp, enticing him with the offer of a part-time job. Subsequently, the victim was added to a Telegram group. To complete the alleged tasks, the fraudster gradually extracted 7 lakh 87 thousand 400 rupees from the victim’s bank accounts. The scam involved providing initial tasks for free and later introducing prepaid tasks.

Despite the funds being transferred, the accused failed to deliver any work to the victim, leaving him with substantial financial losses. The victim’s complaint highlights the fraudulent nature of the scheme, emphasizing that the accused neither provided the promised work nor returned the money.

The Wakad police are investigating the matter.
