Schizophrenia is a complex mental illness marked by distorted thoughts, perceptions, and behaviour, typically emerging during late adolescence or early adulthood. Its symptoms encompass hallucinations, delusions, disorganized thinking, and diminished emotional expression, leading to impaired social functioning. Individuals with schizophrenia face an elevated risk of suicide due to various factors, including symptom distress, co-occurring mental health conditions like depression, social isolation, treatment complexities, and societal stigma.

Effective management of schizophrenia and suicide risk entails comprehensive mental health care, incorporating medication, therapy, and supportive interventions. Early intervention and seeking assistance from mental health professionals or crisis services are critical for individuals experiencing suicidal ideation.

Reportedly, she had a 4-year-old son, and she jumped with him; both were declared dead before arriving at Aundh District Hospital.
