Pune: Wanowrie Police Arrest Three Notorious Bike Thieves, Recover 10 Stolen Bikes
Wanowrie, 22nd May 2023: In a significant breakthrough, the Wanowrie Police apprehended three notorious criminals involved in a spree of bike thefts across the city. The arrests led to the recovery of a total of 10 stolen motorcycles.
It has been uncovered that the accused individuals were responsible for a series of bike thefts in areas including Wanowrie, Kondhwa, Khadak, and Hadapsar, with the possibility of further revelations regarding their criminal activities.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Dinesh Raghunath Shinde (28) from Hadapsar and Akash Tulshiram Nanvare (25) from Gosavi Vasti, Hadapsar.
The police were on a routine patrol in the vicinity of Ramtekdi Industrial Area, Railway Under Bypass when they noticed two individuals on a two-wheeler. Sensing something amiss, the police signaled them to stop. However, the suspects attempted to evade capture by speeding away. Undeterred, the police squad engaged in a swift pursuit and successfully apprehended the culprits.
Subsequent interrogation revealed that Dinesh and Akash confessed to the theft of eight motorcycles. A staggering sum of Rs 3,65,000 in stolen vehicles was seized from their possession.
In a separate development, Barkat Abdul Shaikh (45) from Handewadi Road, Hadapsar, a prime suspect in another vehicle theft case, was detained by the police within a span of 24 hours. Two additional stolen motorcycles were recovered from him.
The action was taken by a team comprising Senior Police Inspector Bhausaheb Patare, Police Inspector Sandeep Shivle, Sub Inspector Santosh Sonawane, Ajay Bhosale, ASI Rasge, and police personnel Amjad Pathan, Santosh Naik, Vinod Bhandalkar, Haridas Kadam, Atul Gaikwad, Rahul Gosavi, Sandeep Salve, Nilkanth Rathod, Vishnu Sutar, Vitthal Chormale, Amol Gaikwad, Manisha Sutar, and Sonam Bhagat.
