Pune: War Level Measures Promised To Address Power Issues in Chakan MIDC

Chakan, 18th October 2023: In a proactive approach to tackle intermittent power supply and other electricity-related concerns in the Chakan Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) area, representatives from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) and the Federation of Chakan Industries convened a joint meeting on Tuesday, the 17th October. The gathering aimed to enhance interaction with industrial customers and expedite the empowerment and expansion of the power system through various schemes.

Pune Regional Director of MSEDCL, Ankush Nale, assured industrial representatives of their unwavering commitment to customer service and the acceleration of ongoing power system empowerment projects. The meeting saw the presence of Chief Engineer Rajendra Pawar, Superintending Engineer Yuvraj Jarag, President of the Federation of Chakan Industries Dilip Batwal, as well as office bearers Vinod Jain, Anil Bajaj, and 40 industry representatives.

During the meeting, Regional Director Nale emphasized the significance of industrial customers to Mahadistribution and pledged that their service quality would not be compromised. He acknowledged the increasing electricity demand within Chakan MIDC and directed the immediate division of overloaded power lines to alleviate stress on the existing power system. To facilitate prompt issue resolution, Nale recommended monthly meetings between superintending engineers and customer representatives to address local power concerns.

Industrial representatives took the opportunity to highlight local electricity issues and express their expectations. In response, Nale instructed local engineers to take immediate action on these matters.

Significant projects are in progress to address power challenges in Chakan MIDC. Under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), multiple initiatives, including three new substations and two switching stations for Rs 94 crore 30 lakh, have been proposed. These projects encompass the establishment of new substations, underground and overhead power line distribution, distribution switches, and high-pressure power line upgrades, among other improvements. Notably, works valued at Rs. 15 crore 49 lakh are currently underway in Chakan MIDC under the Electricity System Improvement Scheme.

Rajendra Pawar, Chief Engineer of Pune Circle, shared that, in pursuit of enhanced customer service, the division is considering creating two separate sub-divisions for the Chakan MIDC area and Chakan City, Alandi City, and surrounding villages.

The meeting further benefited from the presence of MSEDCL Executive Engineer Rajendra Yedke, Deputy Executive Engineer Vijay Gargote, Assistant Engineer Vikrant Varude, and various customer representatives from different companies. The commitment to resolving power-related challenges and the robust engagement between industrial customers and energy authorities signal a collaborative effort to ensure a reliable and efficient power supply in the Chakan MIDC industrial hub.
