Hadapsar, 18th October 2023: Pune Police have arrested Kamrul Mandal, a prime suspect in a Bangladesh bomb blast case, along with six other Bangladeshi infiltrators. The accused are currently under police custody until October 23 as ordered by the court. They were caught based on information from the Military Intelligence (MI) of Army’s Southern Command.

Mandal, who had been out on bail in Bangladesh, illegally entered India and obtained a passport in Pune. Investigations revealed that Mandal and the other infiltrators acquired their Indian identification documents, including Aadhaar and PAN cards, with the help of a broker.

The arrests were made in the Hadapsar area of Pune in a joint operation between the Army’s intelligence agency and Hadapsar police. Various identification documents like Aadhaar cards, PAN cards, and passports were seized from the suspects. Police have also located and seized the passports from the broker responsible for providing these illegal identification documents.

Further investigation uncovered that the arrested infiltrators had bank accounts in West Bengal, from which they were sending money to Bangladesh. The arrested individuals are currently being held in police custody, with a comprehensive investigation underway.

The police have informed the court that they are conducting an in-depth investigation into the matter. This includes tracking the money trail, identifying additional collaborators, and fully understanding the extent of their activities within India.
