Pune 20th Oct 2023: In a decision made during the meeting chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, it has been resolved to release a fresh quota of water from the Khadakwasla Dam into Mutha canal starting November 25. This decision was taken during the Canal Advisory Committee meeting held in the city on Friday.

Emphasizing the importance of ensuring an ample supply of water for irrigation, Deputy Chief Minister Pawar urged the Pune Municipal Corporation to plan and implement necessary measures to mitigate water scarcity in the city by ensuring no wastage of water.

The meeting also focused on various issues related to water supply in the rural parts of the district. Regarding the Pavana and Chaskaman projects, which already boast a substantial water reserve of 100%, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar was informed by the irrigation department that the water supply situation is well under control in the district. This surplus water availability in these projects ensures that there will be no hindrance in water management, including irrigation and water distribution, in the near future. Furthermore, it was also informed that the Khadakwasla project is currently maintaining a 95% water supply, a reassuring update for the region’s water supply stability.
