Maval, 23rd July 2021: As rainfall makes a comeback in and around Pune, dam catchment areas have also seen a rise in water storage in the past few days. Pavana dam in Maval taluka, which supplies water to Maval taluka and Pimpri Chinchwad city has 66.75 per cent water storage till Thursday morning.

On Thursday, 227 mm of rainfall was recorded in the dam area. Heavy rains on Wednesday and Thursday have led to a 22 per cent increase in the dam’s water supply. It is estimated that if the rains continue, the Pavana Dam will soon reach 100.

About 1351 mm of rainfall has been recorded in the Pavana dam area since June 1. Last year at the same timing the dam had only 35 per cent water storage. Meanwhile, due to heavy rains in the last two days in the Pavana dam area, the bridges connecting several villages were submerged and the citizens were cut off. Farmers have suffered huge losses due to the flooding of paddy fields. Citizens are demanding that the government should immediately inquire into this loss and provide help to the victims.
