Pune, 11th September 2023: The city of Pune, along with the entire district, is experiencing a game of sun and shadows as intermittent rainfall and cloudy skies dominate the weather. The Meteorological Department predicts that this pattern will persist for the next two days.

Throughout the day, Pune remained under the veil of thick clouds, offering respite from the scorching sun. In some parts of the district, particularly in the Ghats region, light to moderate rainfall has been reported in isolated areas.

The current weather conditions mark a slight lull in the active monsoon season, which had been prevalent in the region last week. Many areas continue to experience sporadic rain showers, while residents are facing sweltering heat due to the combination of sunny intervals and cloudy spells.

Similar weather patterns have been observed in neighboring regions, including Vidarbha, Marathwada, and Khandesh, where rain showers have provided relief from the heat.

According to the latest forecasts from the Meteorological Department, Tuesday (September 12th) is expected to bring moderate rain to Konkan and Madhya Maharashtra, accompanied by isolated thundershowers. For the rest of the state, light rain is anticipated.

A low-pressure area associated with the monsoon is active to the south of its typical position, extending from Jaisalmer, Kota, Guna, Sagar, Pendraroad to Balasore, and into the Northeast Bay of Bengal. Cyclonic winds are blowing over the northwest Madhya Pradesh region, at an altitude of 7.6 km above sea level, which has further extended into East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, South Chhattisgarh, and the coast of Andhra Pradesh.

Additionally, a cyclonic wind system over the North Andaman Sea, situated between 3.1 to 7.6 km above sea level, is influencing the east-central Bay of Bengal along the Manar coast. This system is likely to result in the formation of a low-pressure area over the region by Thursday (September 14th).

The Meteorological Department anticipates that rain will continue in the state for the next two days, with the possibility of rainfall commencing on Thursday. Furthermore, there are signs of increased precipitation across many parts of the state starting from Friday (September 15th), as a potential low-pressure area develops over the Bay of Bengal.
