Pune Welcomes Back Monsoon: Steady Rains Since Sunday Bring Joy

Pune, 22nd July 2024: Pune has embraced the monsoon with continuous rainfall since Sunday, much to the delight of its residents. After a dry June, the city has experienced steady rain throughout July, with precipitation continuing into today.
Since the monsoon’s onset, Pune saw minimal rain in June. However, from early July, the rain has gradually increased, culminating in consistent showers starting on Sunday. The dam water levels are rising as a result, with 62% of the anticipated rainfall for July already recorded. The highest single-day rainfall was 34 mm on July 14, and 4.8 mm was recorded today. This morning, clouds enveloped the sky, and rain persisted throughout the night, providing Punekars with a true monsoon experience.
The hilly regions around Pune are also experiencing significant rainfall. Tamhini recorded 230 mm on Sunday, while other areas reported substantial totals: Lonavala 142 mm, Shirgaon 168 mm, Ambone 190 mm, Dongarwadi 148 mm, Koyna 127 mm, and Khopoli 160 mm.
