Pune Welcomes ICC Cricket World Cup Trophy with Enthusiasm

Pune 26th Sept 2023: In a grand rally with traditional Dhol-Tasha music, the Punekars welcomed the ICC Cricket World Cup trophy to the city. This was the first time the citizens from the city got an opportunity to see the Cricket World Cup trophy up close.

The Maharashtra Cricket Association Cricket Stadium in Gahunje, Pune will host five matches of the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup scheduled in India. The first match between India and Bangladesh will take place on October 19th. Following that, four more matches will be played on the same ground. With the approval of the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the Maharashtra Cricket Association had organized this rally in the city today.

Rohit Pawar, the President of the Maharashtra Cricket Association said that five matches of the Cricket World Cup would be held in Pune. Therefore, for the next one to two months, a cricket fever is set to engulf the city. To involve all Punekars in celebrating this event, a Cricket World Cup trophy rally was organized in the city today. After the ICC-BCCI’s request, Pune was given permission to conduct this rally, which aimed to encourage the citizens to watch the trophy and take a photograph with it.

The trophy was taken to Symbiosis College, BMCC College, Marathwada Mitra Mandal Commerce College and Fergusson College during the rally. Despite heavy rains, young enthusiasts took to the streets in a carnival-like atmosphere.
