Pune: West Bengal leads with seven gold medals on first day of National Finswimming Championship

Pune, 9th December 2022: The 2nd National Finswimming Championship Pune 2022 organized by the Underwater Sports Federation of India (USFI) started today at Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Mhalunge – Balewadi. On the first day of the tournament, West Bengal led the way with 12 medals including seven golds, while Kerala bagged 8 medals including one gold.

 

Suhas Diwas (Sports Commissioner), Subhash Patil (Deputy Director Sports Department), General Secretary of USFI and Dronacharya Award-winning national coach Dr. Tapan Panigrahi, Achinta Pandit (Treasurer USFI), Rear Admiral PD Sharma (President RLSS (I), Gaurav Bhattacharya, etc were present at the inauguration of the 2nd National Finswimming Championship, Pune.

 

After the conclusion of the first day of the competition, life-saving sports demonstrations were also shown. Swimmers from different states performed various exercises. Also, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde wished the tournament through a video message.

 

The result of the competition is as follows-
Gold medal for Pratik Pasi (Chhattisgarh) in men’s 800m category, While Matcha Raju (Pandechary) Silver Medal, Akash V. S (Kerala) Bronze Medal, Among women, Dwipanvita Mandal (West Bengal) won gold, Soheli Mandal (West Bengal) silver, Prabhalakshmi D (Tamil Nadu) won bronze.

 

Paul Aram (Kerala) Gold Medal in Boys (Junior B) 400m BN-Fin Swimming Group), Manas Makad (Gujarat) got Silver, Praneet S (Tamil Nadu) Bronze, Meanwhile, among girls, Olivia Banerjee (Kerala) got gold, Neha Sannabhati (West Bengal) got silver, while Bansuri Makwana (Gujarat) got bronze.
Abhinav S (Kerala) Gold Medal in Boys (Junior C) 200m BN-Fin Swimming Group, Dhruva Tank (Gujarat) Silver, Tanmay Kausalya (Telangana) Bronze, Nadia Saif (Kerala) Gold, Abhirami P.J (Kerala) Silver, Viha Jani (Gujarat) Bronze among girls.

 

Jay Jaswant R (Tamil Nadu) Gold in Boys (Junior D) 200m BI-Fin Swimming Group, Ishant (Haryana) Silver, Trideep Mandal (West Bengal) Bronze, While among girls, Raima Chakraborty (West Bengal) won gold, Sreeja Saha (West Bengal) won silver, Nia Patange (Maharashtra) won bronze.

 

Boys (Junior E) 200m BI- Fin Swimming Group- Srishank Saha (West Bengal) Gold, Sachinsatwik Sureshsarita (Telangana) won silver, Vijayashankar PV (Kerala) won bronze. Among girls- Sohini Dutta (West Bengal) Gold, Silmi Hibah (West Bengal) Bronze, Vyasghi K.S. (Kerala) Bronze Medal.

 

200m BI Fin Swimming (Master V O Men’s category) Omdutt Singh (Uttarakhand) Gold Medal, while in Women’s category Vedantham Bhanupriya (Andhra Pradesh) Gold).
Prahlad Sahni (Uttar Pradesh) Gold in Men’s 50m Surface Monefin Senior A Group; Charles Yennu (Telangana) Silver, Deepak Chauhan (Uttar Pradesh) Bronze, Among women, Sunanda Dutta (West Bengal) won gold, Sachi Gramopadhyay (Goa) won silver, Sagarti Maurya (Uttar Pradesh) won bronze.

 

Dibanka Das (West Bengal) Gold in 50m Surface Monofin Junior B-Group Boys, Dhanush P.J (Kerala) Silver, G. Jais (Kerala) bronze medal while among girls Jinal Pitroda (Gujarat) gold, Rishita Dutta (West Bengal), Khushi Bera (West Bengal) bronze medal,
