Pune: Widow Made To Pay Bribe, Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissioner Suspends Clerk
Pimpri, 22nd February 2022: Under the pretext of issuing certificates required to approve petrol pumps, a clerical staff of Pimpri Chinchwad police allegedly took a bribe from a widow.
After getting information in this regard, Commissioner of Police Krishna Prakash today suspended the employee Mahendra Nandle (40).
According to details, the wife of the late corporator from Dighi, who had retired from the army, had applied for a petrol pump on her land in the name of her son. Accordingly, Bharat Petroleum Company also sanctioned a petrol pump. However, in the meantime, it was revealed that there was a reservation for a police station on the site. So the woman decided to change her place and demanded to get another petrol pump.
Bharat Petroleum Company asked the lady to get a certificate from the police stating that they had an objection to starting a petrol pump at the old site. So the woman decided to reach the office of the Commissioner of Police. The woman was given a certificate by the then clerical staff Pardeshi. However, as there were some errors in it, Bharat Petroleum Company asked them to bring another certificate.
Accordingly, the complainant’s daughter came to the commissioner’s office and met Nandle, who is currently appointed. At that time, Nandle demanded money from her to issue the certificate. As the certificate was required, the complainant and her daughter transferred a total of Rs 8,500 via PhonePe to the account of the accused. Also, the complaint states that from time to time more amount was transferred to his account by her.
Upon receiving the information, Commissioner of Police Krishna Prakash called the woman concerned and questioned her in this regard. When Nandle found out that the woman had gone to the commissioner with a complaint, he then sent the money back to the woman’s account via PhonePe.
However, the commissioner suspended the staff and showed him the way home.
