Pune: Winners For ‘Lucky Draw’ Contest Announced But PMC Yet To Purchase Prizes For Regular Tax Payers
Pune 22nd August 2023 : The Pune Municipal Corporation has announced names of the winners of ‘Lucky Draw’ contest for the tax payers making their payments on time. The winners were announced at an event attended by the guardian minister Chandrakant Patil. As the taxpayers now await to receive their prizes it has been revealed that the civic body is yet to purchases the prizes.
According to officials, the cars, e-bikes, laptops and mobile phones that are to be given to the winners are not yet purchased by the municipal corporation and the winners will have to wait unless these items are purchased following a tender process. The officials have also said that a tender was floated to purchase these items but no taker was received following another tender was issued on August 19. Meanwhile, the reports also claim that the municipal corporation is yet to decide on which car to be purchased to give it to the winners.
It may be noted that the Pune Municipal Corporation had announced a ‘Lucky Draw’ contest to the property tax payers on time. A total of five winners are to be given cars, 15 to received electric bikes, 15 to receive mobile phones and 10 were to receive laptops. The civic body has run this initiative for the first time this year but it has come to light that there was no proper planning as the rewards are yet to be purchased even after two days of announcing the names of winners.
