Wakad, 11th April 2024: A serious incident occurred in Bhumkar Wasti, Wakad, on April 5, 2024, in which a colleague engaged in a sexual encounter with an intoxicated woman. The woman’s presumed brother, infuriated by the incident, fatally struck the colleague with a brick.

The deceased has been identified as Niketkunal Vijaykumar Singh, 28, a resident of Bhujbal Wasti, Wakad. The accused, Lokendra Kishor Singh, also 28 and residing on Datta Mandir Road, Wakad, is originally from Rajasthan. A case has been registered against him under IPC section 302 (Punishment for murder) at the Hinjawadi Police Station. The complaint was filed by Police Sub-Inspector Dnyaneshwar Zhol of the Hinjawadi Police.

According to Senior Police Inspector Kanhaiya Thorat of Hinjawadi Police Station, both the deceased Niketkunal Vijaykumar Singh and the accused’s considered sister worked for the same company. On April 3, the employees of the company got together and held a party where the accused’s considered sister became intoxicated and ended up staying at Niketkunal’s flat. During her stay, Niketkunal allegedly sexually assaulted her.

The woman later informed her considered brother, Lokendra Kishor Singh, about the assault. Enraged, Lokendra took a brick and went to Niketkunal’s flat to confront him, while the woman waited outside. The confrontation escalated into a fight, resulting in Lokendra striking Niketkunal on the head with the brick.

Niketkunal was taken to a nearby hospital and received treatment, but he was discharged. Later that night, he died in his sleep. Niketkunal was initially worried that he might face rape charges, which caused him significant distress and led him to attempt suicide. At first, the police believed his death to be a suicide, but the postmortem report later revealed that he died due to head injuries from the brick attack.

As a result, police have registered the case as a murder and are investigating the matter further.
