Pune: Woman Attacked With Blade In Redlight Area Of Budhwar Peth, Police Arrest Accused

Budhwar Peth, 13th February 2022: A 35-year-old woman commercial sex worker was attacked by a man with a blade after a dispute over the rate for prostitution.

Based on the complaint from the victim, an FIR was registered against the accused Rajappa Siddhalingappa (40), a resident of Vadarwadi, Shivajinagar. He has been charged with an attempt to murder.

According to police, the incident took place around 9.15 pm on February 11. The woman was standing in front of a brothel when there was an argument about prostitution charges. After she refused to provide her services, Siddhalingappa attacked her with a blade. He was apprehended by passersby and handed over to the police. The woman sustained injuries on her chest.

Police sub inspector Tejasvi Patil is further investigating the case.
