Pune: Woman Charged for Recklessly Running Over Dog in Wakad Housing Society
Wakad, 31st May 2023: In a distressing incident that unfolded near the main gate of the Pristine Grandeur Society in Kaspatevasti area of Wakad, the Pimpri Chinchwad police have taken action against a woman accused of recklessly running over a dog with her car.
The incident, which occurred on May 28 at approximately 1:19 pm, has left the residents of the housing society in shock and disbelief.
The dog, affectionately known as Sheru and considered a beloved member of the community, was kept by one of the society’s residents for the purpose of safety and security.
According to the complaint filed by a fellow resident, the accused, also a resident of the same society, was driving her car at an alarming speed when she tragically ran over the resting canine near the main gate.
Shockingly, despite the security guard’s desperate attempts to warn the driver by shouting for her to slow down, the accused callously ignored the pleas and proceeded to collide with the helpless dog. Outraged by this heartless act, the complainant promptly reported the incident to the authorities.
The Wakad police station has registered a case against the accused under various sections of the Prevention of Animal Cruelty Act. The police are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the matter, striving to uncover the truth and bring the responsible party to justice.
