Viman Nagar, 27th November 2023: A tragic incident unfolded on a Pune – Ahmednagar Road when a tanker overturned near Hyatt Hotel, resulting in a substantial air leakage and a traffic stoppage.

The unfortunate consequence of this traffic disruption was the loss of a 62-year-old woman’s life. Attempting to reach the hospital for treatment with her family, the woman faced insurmountable delays due to the traffic jam, ultimately succumbing to suffocation within the confines of the car.

The accident occurred during the night on the Pune-Ahmednagar highway, where a tanker mishap led to significant air leakage. The fire brigade promptly responded to the incident, working to contain the leakage.

Recognizing the potential danger, efforts were made to spray water on the overturned tanker until assistance from Reliance Petrochemicals Company could be secured. The police department took charge of traffic control in the area.

The overturned tanker, spilling flammable material onto the road, necessitated a temporary blockage of traffic. Subsequently, the traffic department initiated the diversion of vehicles through alternative routes. However, during the morning rush hour, significant traffic congestion persisted on the city road. Tragically, amidst this congestion, a 62-year-old woman, accompanied by her family in a car en route to the hospital, found herself unable to navigate the road due to the traffic standstill. Regrettably, the woman passed away due to suffocation within the car, as timely medical assistance remained out of reach.
