Pune: Woman Escapes Unharmed After Thief Tries to Break Into Her Home

Pune, 12th November 2024: A burglary attempt was made in broad daylight when a thief tried to break the lock of a flat in a society in Sadashiv Peth, located in the heart of Pune. The woman, who had locked her flat and gone out for some work, noticed upon her return that the lock had been broken and the thief had entered the home. Upon seeing the woman, the thief panicked and pushed her aside. Fortunately, the woman was unharmed in the incident.

The woman has filed a complaint at Vishrambaug Police Station. She resides in a society in Sadashiv Peth and had gone to Shree Sadguru Shankar Maharaj Math in Dhankawadi for darshan on 9th November. She returned home around 1:30 PM to find that the thief had broken the lock and entered her flat. When she attempted to stop him, he fled after pushing her. The police have seized CCTV footage from the society for investigation, and Police Sub-Inspector Ganesh Fartade is handling the case.

During the Diwali festival, many people were out with their families, providing thieves the opportunity to target locked flats. Following Diwali, incidents of burglary have increased. In a similar case, a burglary occurred in the Hadapsar area, where a lock was broken, and Rs 5 lakh worth of items were stolen. A complaint was filed by Ananta Pawar (62), a resident of Manjari, at Hadapsar Police Station. The Pawar family had gone to their village for Diwali, and upon their return, they discovered the lock on their flat had been broken. The thieves had stolen gold ornaments worth Rs 4.87 lakh after breaking into a bedroom cupboard. Police Sub-Inspector Kale is investigating the case.
