Pune: Woman-Led Gang Caught Attempting ATM Robbery in Pimpri-Chinchwad; Two Detained

Pimpri-Chinchwad, 26th May 2025: In a late-night operation, Pimpri-Chinchwad Police caught two thieves red-handed while attempting to rob an ATM in Dehu Road. The accused are part of an interstate gang led by a woman, police said. The gang was trying to break into an IndusInd Bank ATM using a gas cutter when the police intervened. Out of the five-member gang, two were arrested while three managed to escape.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 2) Vishal Gaikwad informed the media that the arrested accused have been identified as brothers Mustafa Mobin Khan (30) and Mustakim Mobin Khan (25), both residents of Haryana. The absconding accused have been identified as Seema Yusuf Khan (40), a local resident, along with Waris Khan (20) and Azad Khan (45), both residents of Haryana. Police believe Seema Yusuf Khan is the gang leader.
According to DCP Gaikwad, the incident occurred around 1:50 AM when Dehu Road Police were patrolling the area. At the entrance of Dehu Village on Dehu-Alandi Road, Constables Samadhan Patawkar and Kiran Patil noticed suspicious movements of a car parked in front of an IndusInd Bank ATM. When they attempted to stop the vehicle, which had two men and one woman inside, the suspects fled.
The officers then proceeded to check the ATM, where they found the shutter partially open. Upon entering, they discovered two individuals using a gas cutter to break open the machine. When confronted, the accused retaliated by shouting and throwing stones and other objects at the police. However, with backup arriving in time, police overpowered the accused in dramatic fashion and detained them.
A case has been registered at Dehu Road Police Station. The operation was conducted under the guidance of DCP Vishal Gaikwad and ACP Sunil, with the team led by Senior Police Inspector Vikram Bansode.
