Pune : Woman Sexually Assaulted By Tea Vendor Who Offered Her Lift, Accused Arrested
Vimannagar 30th Sept 2023: In a shocking incident reported in the Kharadi area, a 32-year-old woman was sexually assaulted by a tea vendor who offered her lift to reach home from a hotel in Vimananagar. The incident took place on Thursday when the victim had gone to a hotel for dinner with friends.
According to the police, the victim has alleged that she had a quarrel with the hotel staff while paying the bill after she forgot the ATM card pin and they insisted on paying the bill immediately. The hotel officials took away her mobile phones, Debit Card and other belongings and asked to take it back after making the bill payment. The woman left the hotel and was offered a lift by the accused outside the hotel.
The accused offered to drop her home but instead took her to a lodge in Kharadi where he even booked a room using her aadhar card and sexually assaulted her. According to the victim, she was drunk and unconscious at the time of the incident. The accused left the hotel by threatening her not to disclose the incident to anyone. The woman after returning home on Friday narrated the incident to her friend and then approached police to lodge a complaint in the matter.
The police have logged the complaint in the matter and the accused who runs a tea shop near the hotel where the victim had dinner with friends was arrested. A case under relevant sections has been registered in the matter and further investigation is underway.
