Pune: Woman’s Murder In Ambegaon Cracked; Rickshaw Driver Nabbed From Uttar Pradesh

Pune, 11th June 2025: The mystery surrounding the brutal murder of a woman in Pune’s Ambegaon area on 20th May has finally been solved. Bharati Vidyapeeth police have arrested the primary accused, a rickshaw driver named Shahrukh Mansoor, from Uttar Pradesh.

The woman was killed with a sharp weapon, receiving fatal blows to the head. Her identity was initially unknown, and police found her mobile phone at the crime scene. Using the device’s location data, investigators traced over 150 CCTV clips between Kolhewadi and Navale Bridge and examined nearly 1,200 autorickshaws with help from the Pune RTO and TVS company records.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Smartana Patil, CCTV footage revealed that the victim arrived near Navale Bridge on a two-wheeler before boarding an autorickshaw. Detailed tracking led police to identify the rickshaw’s owner as Shahrukh Shakeel Mansoor.

Further investigation confirmed that Mansoor, originally from Uttar Pradesh, was behind the murder. After committing the crime, he fled to his native place, where Pune police eventually apprehended him.

Authorities also revealed that Mansoor has a criminal record, with several cases registered against him at various police stations in Pune. The
