Pune: Woman’s Narrow Escape – Snake Found on Her Body Safely Released into Forest in Maval
Maval, 6th July 2023: A terrifying incident occurred yesterday, July 5, in the Chaurainagar settlement of Somatne Phata, when a snake was discovered on a woman’s body. Fortunately, no casualties occurred as the snake was promptly captured and safely released into the forest.
The incident took place in a rented room within Chaurainagar Vasti, where the woman and her husband reside. Around 2:20 a.m. last night, while the couple was asleep, the woman felt an unfamiliar touch on her hand.
Sensing something amiss, she woke her husband. With a quick reaction, the husband illuminated the room and found a large snake on the woman’s body. Immediately, he contacted Vilas Gaikwad, a member of the wildlife protection team. Gaikwad promptly arrived at Chaurainagar, captured the snake safely, and rescued the woman.
According to Gaikwad, “the snake was highly venomous. If it had bitten the woman, the consequences would have been dire. However, there is no need for concern now, as the snake has been safely released into the forest.”
In recent days, the city has experienced consistent monsoon rainfall, resulting in an increase in reported incidents of wildlife, including snakes, encroaching upon residential areas. Gaikwad appeals to the community to refrain from harming these creatures if similar encounters occur. He urges residents to contact the wildlife protection team or snake catchers and avoid killing the snakes.
