Pune Workshop Trains Teachers in Addiction Prevention Strategies
Pune, 12th September 2025 – The Tarachand Ramnath Seva Trust, in collaboration with Jnana Prabodhini’s Institute of Psychology, launched the Saiyam School Program Training on Addiction Prevention today. The four-day workshop is designed to equip teachers with knowledge, practical tools, and strategies to guide students toward healthier choices. The sessions will continue on 13, 19, and 20 September, ensuring comprehensive engagement and learning for all participants.
The inauguration was graced by Swati Jogalekar, Secretary, Deccan Education Society; Kumar Divakar, Academic Coordinator, MKSSS; Nandkishore Rathi and Ruchita Rathi, Trustees of the Tarachand Ramnath Seva Trust; and Anagha Lavlekar, Director of Jnana Prabodhini’s Institute of Psychology.
Around 40 teachers from prominent institutions, including the Deccan Education Society, MKSSS Pune, Shikshana Prasaraka Mandal, and other leading schools across the city, are participating in the training. The sessions combine interactive discussions, practical exercises, and evidence-based strategies to help educators address addiction proactively and foster addiction-free learning environments.
The Saiyam initiative, successfully run under the guidance of the Tarachand Ramnath Seva Trust and Jnana Prabodhini’s Institute of Psychology, focuses on raising awareness about addiction among youth and empowering teachers to play a pivotal role in prevention.

The enthusiastic response from the teaching community highlights a growing recognition of addiction prevention as a critical priority in education. By equipping educators with the right tools, the program aims to build stronger, healthier communities, starting directly within schools.
