Pune, 17th April 2024: The Yerawada Metro Station is expected to become operational by May, according to a statement from the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS). On Tuesday, Maha Metro officials announced that the construction of the station’s entry and exit points is almost complete.

The construction deadline is set for the end of April, by which time the entry and exit points will be reviewed and finalized. A Maha Metro representative stated that they plan to finish construction by the end of the month and will soon invite the CMRS team for the verification and approval process in May. The metro station will be opened to the public only after receiving clearance from the CMRS, ensuring all safety measures and procedures are in place.

Initially, residents of Yerawada expressed dissatisfaction with the construction of the station’s entry and exit points, finding them faulty and unsafe. They lodged complaints with the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), which took action and recommended the reconstruction of these points.

Maha Metro has also requested permission from Pune Railway Authorities to install a ticket kiosk at the entrance of Platform Number One. The kiosk would be a self-service electronic ticket dispenser, streamlining ticket sales and offering a more efficient alternative to traditional ticket counters.
