Pune: Yerwada Jail Guard Shoots Himself With Rifle, Admitted To Hospital

Yerwada, 27th February 2022: A 28-year-old prison guard of the Yerwada Central Jail today allegedly shot himself with his service firearm. The guard has been undergoing treatment at Sassoon Hospital, Pune.
The suicide attempt took place around 4.31 am at the main entrance of the jail where he was on duty. A case has been registered about the incident at Yerwada police station.
Senior Police Inspector Yunus Shaikh, in-charge of Yerwada police station, said that the other guards heard the gunshot and rushed Amol Mane to the hospital. He is presently on ventilator support.
According to police, he had got married six months ago. Investigations are underway to find out the reason behind his extreme step.
