Pune: Young Girl Drowns In Dam Water Near Lonavala During Birthday Celebration Of Sister

Lonavla, 4th September 2021: An 18-year-old girl who had come to celebrate her sister’s birthday with her elder sister and friend drowned in the Tungarli dam in Lonavla. The incident took place around 2.30 pm on Friday (September 3).
Dhwani Manish Thakkar (18, resident of Powai, Mumbai) is the name of this deceased girl. Dhwani’s sister Saloni Manish Thakkar (age 20) reported the incident to Lonavla city police.
Three sisters Saloni, Dhwani, Kamya Thakkar, and their friend Vaishnavi Ambadan had come to Lonavala by car to celebrate Kamya’s birthday. At around 1 pm, after they cut Kamya’s birthday cake in the Tungarli dam area, they all jumped into the backwater to play into the water.
Suddenly Dhwani fell down and started drowning. The other girls shouted for help and the locals pulled her out of the water and took her to hospital. However she died before treatment due to drowning.
