Pune, 17th September 2023: A youth has been duped of Rs 40,000 by a fraudster who advertised a villa on Instagram. The accused, Akash Jadhwani of Mumbai, has been arrested in similar cases earlier.

Jadhwani created an Instagram page called Marvelous Stays and posted advertisements for a luxurious villa. He also created a website called www.vistarastays.com and directed people to the website through the Instagram page.

Ashish Saxena, a resident of Keshavnagar, came across the advertisement for the villa on Instagram and contacted Jadhwani through WhatsApp. He paid Rs 40,000 as the booking amount on August 20.

However, he did not get any confirmation about the booking. Saxena has filed a complaint with Mundhwa police station.

Saxena later came to know that Jadhwani had been arrested by Mumbai Police for cheating people through fake bookings.

Jadhwani is a history-sheeter and has been arrested thrice in cyber fraud cases. However, each time, he gets out of police custody on bail and continues to con people.

Police have advised people to be cautious when booking villas online, especially through social media platforms. They should verify the authenticity of the website or Instagram page before making any payments.
