Pune: Youths jump in the river to save drowning woman near Kalyaninagar bridge

Pune, November 18, 2019: A video of two youths is going viral on social media for their act of bravery in saving the life of a 22-year-old woman from drowning in Mula-Mutha river near Kalyaninagar Bridge.

 

Officials from Pune city police’s Yerwada police station told Punekarnews.in that, the incident took place last week. After hearing the shout for help by the woman, many people gathered on the bridge. A man is seen running with a tyre tube and it is thrown down in the river. However, the woman was not able to reach the tube.

 

Soon three youths jumped into the river from different directions and two of them managed to reach the woman soon. With the help of the tube, she was brought out. Police had also reached the spot by then.
“We had received information from the police control room that a woman has jumped in the river from Kalyaninagar Bridge. Accordingly, a team of Beat Marshalls and API Giramkar of Ramwadi police chowky reached there. Meanwhile, two youths jumped into the river and saved the woman who is a resident of Koregaon Park. She was taken to Sassoon Hospital for treatment and then handed over to her family members”, informed Senior Police Inspector Yunus Shaikh, in-charge of Yerwada police station.
