Pune Zilla Parishad Sets Up Central Record Warehouse At Market Yard
Pune, 14th October 2022: Pune Zilha Parishad is establishing a Central Records Warehouse at Market Yard in Pune City. Records of Files from all 16 departments of Zilha Parishad have been categorised. They will be stored at the Central Record Warehouse. Pune Zilla Parishad has sanctioned Rs 65 lakh for the repairs of the warehouse, purchase of racks for efficient utilisation of available space, fire safety, and security in the warehouse. Repairs are nearing the final stages and should be completed soon. Once operationalised, the warehouse would save office space and give offices a cleaner look.
It would save time spent trying to locate documents as it makes access to them easier. Documents will also be safe.
Pune Zilla Parishad is providing a photocopier and other facilities at the central warehouse of file records. It would have a room for a record keeper and a toilet facility.
Three officials have been posted at the Central Warehouse for safe keeping of documents. They have also been designated as Jan Mahiti Adhikari under the Right to Information Act of 2005. It means that they are the legal custodian of documents. It places the responsibility for the safekeeping of documents on them. They can directly provide copies of records without the need to consult with the parent department of the said record. It also means that records sorted under the Act will be provided to the people in time. The officials serving in departments would no longer have to spend time locating the documents and providing the sought information.
It is a new initiative for the safe storage of records and timely provisioning of the information under the Right to Information Act of 2005.
