Pune, 31st July 2025: The Association for Diabetes and Obesity Reversal (ADORE), a Pune-based health initiative founded on the Dixit Lifestyle, is helping thousands manage diabetes and weight—without medication. With free counselling sessions and expert guidance, the center promotes lifestyle changes proven to reverse Type 2 diabetes.

As per ADORE’s records, over 3,500 patients have enrolled for diabetes or weight management. Over the course of six months, participants lost an average of 6.2 kg. Among them, around 3,000 are from Pune and surrounding areas.

For at least three months, 398 diabetic patients were able to successfully lower their HbA1c levels below 6.5 without using medication. Of these, 365 are from Pune and nearby localities. ADORE has also helped 35–40 patients with severely high blood sugar manage their diabetes without medication, and 4 patients have quit tobacco by following the Dixit Lifestyle.

The Dixit Lifestyle, developed by senior diabetologist and B. J. Medical College professor Dr. Jagannath Dixit, involves two daily meals and 45 minutes of exercise. “Type 2 diabetes is a lifestyle disease. With simple changes like two meals a day and regular exercise, it can be reversed without costly medication,” said Dr. Dixit. He emphasized that no special foods or supplements are required.

To improve accessibility, ADORE has relocated its Pune center to a larger facility above the Mahindra Unnati Showroom in Apex Colony near Nal Stop on Law College Road. This space has been provided by the Ram Padma Godbole Foundation. The center operates Monday to Saturday, from 5 PM to 9 PM, offering all check-ups and counselling services entirely free of charge.

Infosys Foundation has also extended financial support to ADORE’s social health initiatives. Under the ‘Infosys Foundation Diabetes Care Program’, centers were launched in Pune and Nagpur in 2022. ADORE now operates centers in cities including Nashik, Thane, Kalyan, Solapur, Kolhapur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Surat, Sangli, Vile Parle and Belgaum, functioning between one and three days a week.

Based on patient outcomes, several research papers have been published, including one in the Indian Journal of Community Medicine that was awarded ‘Best Research Paper of the Year’ in 2023.

Highlighting the urgency of the diabetes crisis, Dr. Dixit said more centers will be established across Maharashtra and India. He appealed for greater support from NGOs and corporates to expand the initiative and tackle the growing diabetes epidemic through community-driven efforts.
