Pune, 13th April 2024: For the expansion of Ganeshkhind Road, a 45-meter Development Plan (DP) road will be widened between Chaphekar Statue and Sancheti Hospital. This project requires the compulsory acquisition of the area, which has been approved by the Standing Committee of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). The estimated cost for the land acquisition is around Rs 144 crores.

To alleviate traffic congestion on Ganeshkhind Road, the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) is constructing an integrated double-decker flyover with a metro line along the road. In line with the approved development plan, the necessary land will be acquired for the widening of the 45-meter DP road. The properties on both the right and left sides of the road between Chaphekar Statue and Sancheti Hospital will be acquired under the Land Acquisition Act of 1894.

The Estate and Management Department of PMC has sent a letter to the affected property owners, proposing the acquisition of the impacted properties through a compromise agreement. However, since the affected landowners refused to comply with this compromise, the Estate and Management Department will proceed with acquiring the properties under the Land Acquisition Act of 1894. The left side of the road contains an affected area of 7,067 square meters with a total of 25 properties. Meanwhile, the right side of the road comprises an affected area of 7,063 square meters with a total of 27 properties.
