Pune’s Ikram Khan Appointed to NCP-SP’s Maharashtra Minorities Committee

Pune, 18th February 2025: The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP)-Sharad Pawar faction has dissolved the Maharashtra State Minorities Department and Mumbai Regional Minorities Department committees. The decision was taken under the directive of party president Sharad Pawar, with Siraj Mehdi, National President of the NCP-SP Minorities Department, overseeing the restructuring process.

A three-member panel has been appointed to recommend candidates for the state and regional committees. The newly formed Maharashtra State Minorities Committee includes Shabbir Vidrohi, Surjat Singh Khungar, and prominent Pune-based sports personality and Muslim leader Ikram Khan. Meanwhile, the Mumbai Regional Minorities Committee comprises Ravindra Pawar, Fahad Ahmed, and Bilkis Shaikh.

The appointed committees will propose three names for the position of president in their respective bodies. The final decision will be made after consultations with Sharad Pawar, state NCP-SP president Jayant Patil, and senior party leadership. The official announcement of the new presidents for both committees will follow this process.
