Pune’s Railway Infrastructure Gets a Boost: Highlights from Recent Meeting

Pune, 14th October 2023: In a meeting held with railway officials and Members of Parliament, several crucial developments and issues concerning the railway network in the region were discussed. The meeting, which lasted for nearly four hours, saw a comprehensive dialogue on various topics related to railway infrastructure and services.

One of the notable highlights of the meeting was the discussion regarding the Latur-CSMT Express pair, consisting of trains 22108 and 22144. It was reported that there are plans to increase the number of coaches for these express trains. This move is expected to enhance passenger capacity and improve the travel experience for commuters. Additionally, the trains now have a halt at Murud, catering to the convenience of passengers traveling to and from this location.

Another significant development is the proposal to make the Hadapsar-Kazipet Express a daily service. This decision is anticipated to benefit commuters by providing more frequent connectivity between these two destinations.

The meeting also addressed issues related to the Latur-Tirupati Express, with a focus on resolving any concerns to ensure a smooth travel experience for passengers. Furthermore, discussions revolved around the development of Latur Station, including proposals for new pit lines to facilitate maintenance and operational efficiency.

Regarding manufacturing and maintenance, it was noted that the Latur Coach Factory has completed its work, marking a milestone in local railway production capabilities. This achievement is expected to contribute positively to the region’s railway infrastructure and job creation.

In addition to these developments, there are plans to introduce the Latur-CSMT Vande Bharat Express, which promises to offer passengers a faster and more modern travel option.

During the meeting, MPs also discussed the progress of the Solapur-Tuljapur-Osmanabad new railway line, addressing issues related to land acquisition. Train halts at Kalamb Station and the timings of the Pune-Harangul Express were deliberated upon, aiming to enhance connectivity for passengers.

Moreover, concerns about the Pune-Amaravati Express via Osmanabad and Latur were brought to the forefront for consideration. Water logging and drainage issues at various Road Over Bridges (ROB) and Road Under Bridges (RUB) were also discussed, emphasizing safety and infrastructure maintenance.

Progress on the installation of CCTV cameras at stations was reviewed, reinforcing security measures. Additionally, the proposal to make the Kolhapur-Nagpur Express a daily service was discussed, which is expected to be a significant benefit for passengers along that route.

MPs and railway officials came together in a constructive dialogue, addressing various developmental issues and concerns related to the railway network in the region. The meeting showcased a commitment to improving rail services, infrastructure, and passenger experiences, setting the stage for further progress in the railway sector.
