Pune’s Ring Road Project Gains Momentum with Land Acquisition Process Initiation

Pune, 28th June 2023: The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has initiated the land acquisition process for the western section of the first phase of the ring road, with the district administration issuing notices to the project-affected individuals in 36 villages in the west and four villages in the east. The affected parties will have until July 30 to submit their consent forms.
In a review meeting led by District Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh, MSRDC officials determined the new rates based on revised guidelines. Dr Deshmukh presented a report on the impacted villages during the meeting.
Speaking after the meeting, Dr Deshmukh stated, “Following the instructions of the Maharashtra state government, the affected villages in the western and eastern regions have been reassessed. Thirty-six villages from Maval, Mulshi, Bhor, and Haveli talukas in the western region, as well as four affected villages in Bhor taluka in the east, had their land prices determined. As a result, a total of 804 hectares of land will be acquired.”
Approximately 2,992 account holders will receive notices within the next two days. Those who provide their consent will receive an additional 25% compensation. The district committee has been tasked with reassessing the lands to be
acquired in the eastern villages and submitting a report by July 20.
The rates have been finalized for 32 affected villages on the west side of the ring road, while rates for four out of the 48 villages on the east side have been determined. The remaining 42 villages have been given until July 20 to establish the final rates.
In the villages where the rates have been fixed, consent forms will be collected after consulting with the affected individuals. Notices will be issued to the landowners, and village-wise camps will be organized for this purpose. Dr Rajesh Deshmukh, the Collector, emphasized the importance of building consensus and ensuring transparency throughout the process.
