Pune’s Ronita Roy Ghosh Appointed Chairperson for ‘Inclusive Economy and Employment’ at G20 Y20 Summit in South Africa
Pune, 14 June 2025: Ronita Roy Ghosh, the India President of the World Chamber for Social Business, has been appointed as the Chairperson of the ‘Inclusive Economy and Employment’ section under the Youth Engagement Platform (Y20) for the upcoming G20 Summit in Pretoria, South Africa, scheduled for October. Notably, Ronita is the only Indian selected by the South African government for this prestigious role.
In her new role, she will collaborate with delegates from 20 countries to develop policy recommendations focused on inclusive economic growth and employment opportunities for youth. These recommendations will be presented at the G20 Summit.
A resident of Baner in Pune, Ronita gained recognition for her social impact initiatives, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. Through the Jikoni Foundation, she provided food to underprivileged and vulnerable groups, including patients and attendants at Sassoon Hospital, for over 45 days. Her efforts benefited more than three lakh people.
Ronita’s work includes grassroots initiatives like Ektra, a collective farming project; Mee Ahe, aimed at empowering farmers; and Café Haridrara, which supports widows affected during the pandemic. Additionally, her efforts to promote rural women’s handmade blankets to national and international markets have helped generate sustainable employment.
An alumna of Delhi University, Ronita holds a degree in Management Science with a specialization in Social Business from Italy. Her appointment to the Y20 conference is seen as recognition of her continued work in driving social entrepreneurship and inclusive development.
