Pune’s Runaholics Group Shines at Comrades Ultra Marathon 2025

Pune, 11th June 2025: At the world-renowned Comrades Ultra Marathon 2025, held on 8th June in South Africa from Durban to Pietermaritzburg, Pune’s Runaholics group delivered an outstanding performance, making the city and country proud. With 50 participants, Runaholics was the largest contingent from India, marking a historic presence at this prestigious global event.

Out of these, 47 members successfully completed the grueling 90 km race, showcasing exceptional endurance, determination, and team spirit.

The group’s chief mentor and guiding force, Dr. Yogesh Satav, not only led the team with structured training and motivation but also achieved personal excellence by finishing as the 3rd fastest Indian runner at Comrades 2025. His scientifically planned training schedules were instrumental in preparing the group for this ultra-endurance challenge.

Adding another feather to the group’s cap, Dr. Aarti Patwa Zanwar emerged as the fastest female runner from India, bringing pride to the entire nation.

Particularly noteworthy were the achievements of senior members Vidya Tai Bendale (age 64), Ajay Modi (age 61), and Prakash Dube Patil (age 63), who successfully completed the race in impressive time, demonstrating that age is no barrier to achieving extraordinary goals.

The incredible success of the Runaholics group has been widely appreciated by the Indian running community and beyond. Every member completed the tough course with determination and grace, setting a high benchmark for amateur and seasoned runners alike.
