Kothud 2nd September 2025: Shri Sai Mitra Mandal, one of Pune’s most prominent Ganesh Mandals, has completed 30 years with a grand celebration that has drawn massive public response. This year, the Mandal has created a magnificent replica of the historic Kailasa Temple of Ellora, which has become a major attraction, pulling in huge crowds since its unveiling.

Founded three decades ago with the support of the current Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Murlidhar Mohol, the Mandal has steadily grown into a landmark of festive creativity and cultural spirit in the city. Over the years, its large-scale themes and detailed replicas have set benchmarks for Ganesh festival decorations.

Speaking about this year’s theme, Akshay Pawar of the Mandal, said, “This year our replica is about the Kailasa Temple, and it’s heartening to see such an overwhelming crowd response. Last year, we created the Jagannath Puri Temple theme, and before that, the Ram Mandir theme. This year is even more special as the entire representation has been dedicated to women, since we are celebrating the 300th birth anniversary of Ahilyabai Holkar.”

The Kailasa Temple replica has received appreciation not only from devotees but also from dignitaries. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Health Minister J. P. Nadda recently visited the pandal, praising the Mandal’s efforts in blending art, culture, and devotion.

In a symbolic tribute to Ahilyabai Holkar’s legacy, the Mandal has entrusted all festival responsibilities—from planning to execution—to women members. This unique decision has been widely applauded as a gesture of empowerment and inclusivity.

With its majestic decoration, cultural tribute, and women-led management, Shri Sai Mitra Mandal’s 30th-year celebration has become one of the most talked-about highlights of Pune’s Ganeshotsav 2025.
