Punjab: Fire Breaks Out in Amritsar-Saharsa Garib Rath Express Coach at Sirhind; No Casualties Reported

Sirhind, Punjab 18th October 2025: A fire broke out in one coach of the Amritsar–Saharsa Garib Rath Express (Train No. 12204) at Sirhind Junction early Saturday morning around 7:30 AM. Railway staff and local authorities immediately responded to the incident, swiftly evacuating passengers and extinguishing the fire.
According to a statement from the Railway authorities, the affected coach was detached from the train after the blaze was brought under control. “As soon as the incident was noticed, railway authorities shifted the passengers immediately to the other coaches and the fire was extinguished quickly. The train will depart to its destination shortly. No casualties,” the statement said.
Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Ambala, confirmed that “a fire incident was allegedly reported on Train No. 12204 (Amritsar-Saharsa Garib Rath Express) at Sirhind Junction. Immediate action was taken by railway staff and local authorities. The situation is under control, and there have been no reports of injuries so far.”
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Railway officials are conducting an inquiry into the incident.
