Quick Action by Pune Fire Brigade Prevents Casualties in Kumthekar Road Fire

Pune, 22nd January 2024: A potential disaster was averted today as Pune’s fire brigade sprung into action at 01:39 PM following an incident of fire reported at a tenement near Kumthekar Road, in front of Annabhau Sathe School at Sadashiv Peth. The fire control room received the distress call, prompting the dispatch of a water tanker from both Kasba and Janata Vasahat Fire Stations.

Upon arrival at the scene, firefighters discovered a fire engulfing a flat on the second floor of a four-story building. The quick-thinking jawans entered the premises and initiated firefighting efforts, simultaneously conducting a check for occupants inside the house. Within fifteen minutes, the firefighters successfully brought the blaze under control, eliminating the immediate threat.

To ensure safety, the Jawans promptly moved two used and three empty domestic cylinders from the affected house to a secure location. Fortunately, no injuries were reported from the incident. However, the fire resulted in the complete destruction of batteries, inverters, wiring, wooden cupboards, furniture, mattresses, and other household materials within the affected flat.

The commendable response was executed by drivers Aniket Oval, Omkar Sakhre, Prasad Shinde, Tandel Sanjay Gaikwad, along with firefighters Nilesh Mane, Shubham Deshmukh, Aditya Pardeshi, and Sagar Ingle.
