Quick-Thinking Tourists and Police Save Man Attempting Suicide in Pune’s Tamhini Ghat

Paud, 30th January 2025: An attempt to die by suicide was prevented by Pune Rural Police in the famous tourist spot Tamhini Ghat area. A person, burdened with debt, attempted to hang himself from a tree when a few tourists from outside Maharashtra, who were there for sightseeing, spotted him and rushed to his aid. They quickly pulled him down and brought him to the ground.
Officials from Paud Police Station were summoned and rushed to the spot to find the man unconscious. They provided him with basic first aid and called 108 emergency services. Currently, the man is being taken to Rural Hospital in Paud.
The incident occurred a couple of hours ago, around 7 PM when tourists from Karnataka near Plus Valley Hotel in Tamhini Ghat saw a man hanging from a tree with his legs shaking. The tourists, who were returning from witnessing the sunset behind Plus Valley Hotel, rushed to take him down and found him still breathing.
Paud Police officials told Punekar News that they were called by the tourists. Police Constables Ganesh Lokhande, Mahesh Pawar, and Shrikrishna Pore rushed to the scene. They found the man unconscious and, after administering first aid, he regained consciousness. He told the police that he was under financial stress due to debt. The police noted that he appeared to be educated.
The man has been sent to the Rural Hospital in Paud, and if his condition is deemed serious, he will be transferred to Sassoon General Hospital. Paud Police and the tourists potentially saved the man’s life and prevented a suicide. This rescue operation was conducted under the guidance of Paud Police Station’s in-charge Senior Police Inspector Santosh Girigosavi.
