US President Donald Trump Questions Mid-Air Collision, Calls Incident ‘NOT GOOD’

Washington, 30th January 2025: Former US President Donald Trump reacted to the mid-air collision involving a passenger jet and a Black Hawk helicopter on Wednesday night, calling the incident “NOT GOOD” and raising concerns about the helicopter’s flight path on a “CLEAR NIGHT.”
Posting on Truth Social, Trump questioned why the helicopter failed to avoid the plane, stating, “The aeroplane was on a perfect and routine line of approach to the airport. The helicopter was going straight at the aeroplane for an extended period. It was a CLEAR NIGHT, the plane’s lights were blazing—why didn’t the helicopter go up, down, or turn? Why didn’t the control tower instruct the helicopter instead of asking if they saw the plane? This looks like a situation that should
have been prevented. NOT GOOD!!!”
In a separate statement, Trump expressed condolences for those affected and acknowledged the efforts of first responders. “I have been fully briefed on the terrible accident at Reagan National Airport. May God bless their souls. Thank you to our incredible first responders. I am monitoring the situation and will provide updates as they come in,” he said.
The crash occurred around 9 PM local time over the Potomac River, resulting in multiple fatalities, according to law enforcement sources. Several bodies have been recovered, and no survivors have been found so far.
Vice President JD Vance also commented on the incident in a post on X, urging people to pray for those involved. “Please say a prayer for everyone affected by the mid-air collision near Reagan Airport this evening. We are monitoring the situation and hoping for the best,” he wrote.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, speaking on Fox News, confirmed that Trump had been briefed on the situation. Preliminary reports indicated that the crash involved a military helicopter and a regional passenger jet.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) identified the civilian aircraft as American Airlines Flight 5342, a Bombardier CRJ700 operated by PSA Airlines, arriving from Wichita, Kansas. The military aircraft, a Sikorsky H-60 Black Hawk, was based at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, and was conducting a training mission at the time of the
accident.
Trump continues to closely monitor the situation as search and rescue operations proceed. Meanwhile, the White House has pledged full support to emergency responders and investigators working to determine the cause of the collision.
