Radio Mirchi’s ‘Waste-Harta’ Initiative Enters Asia Book of Records; Grand Felicitation Ceremony Held in Pune
Pune, 7th February 2026: Radio Mirchi’s social cleanliness drive, ‘Mirchi Waste-Harta’, has received international recognition with its official entry into the Asia Book of Records, marking a major milestone in urban waste management awareness in India. To celebrate the achievement, a grand felicitation ceremony was organised in Pune on Thursday at the Sumant Moolgaonkar Auditorium, MCCIA Trade Tower.
The event showcased the journey and impact of the Waste-Harta campaign and honoured individuals and institutions that contributed to its success. The initiative focuses on waste segregation, recycling, and citizen participation in keeping cities clean.
The ceremony was attended by Kohinoor Group Chairman and Managing Director Krishnakumar Goyal, Pune Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1) Krushikesh Rawale, Radio Mirchi Business Director Jayesh Patil, and Content Leader Smita Randive (Tribhuvan).
Congratulating Radio Mirchi, Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram said the Waste-Harta campaign was not just innovative but also inspirational for society. He stressed that the concept should go beyond festival-specific cleanliness drives and become a permanent civic habit. “Waste management, pollution control and water purification are among the biggest challenges today. Citizens must actively partner with the administration. Pune has the potential to become more beautiful than many European cities, and media platforms like Radio Mirchi play a crucial role in that transformation,” he said.
Krishnakumar Goyal praised Radio Mirchi for building a strong emotional connection with Pune residents. “In traffic jams and daily stress, Radio Mirchi is a companion for Punekars. Through Waste-Harta, the message of cleanliness has been delivered effectively. With nearly 1.5 million metric tonnes of waste generated daily in Pune, such initiatives are absolutely necessary,” he noted.
He also highlighted Radio Mirchi’s nationwide reach across 72 cities and the engaging style of its radio jockeys, saying their energy keeps programmes lively and relatable for listeners.
Radio Mirchi Business Director Jayesh Patil said the initiative focused on waste management, recycling, and environmental awareness. “Through QR code participation, more than 9,000 citizens took a pledge for social cleanliness. This is not just a campaign but a long-term effort to give society a positive direction,” he said.
Radio Mirchi RJs including RJ Nidhi, RJ Nimi, RJ Utsavi, RJ Snehal, RJ Milind and RJ Radhika played a key role in spreading the message both on-air and on-ground, reaching everyone from celebrities to ordinary citizens across Pune.
