Lonavala, 11th July 2025: Rail traffic on the busy Mumbai-Pune railway route was temporarily disrupted this afternoon after the rear wheels of a guard wagon attached to a goods train derailed near Monkey Hill station in the Ghat section.

The incident occurred around 2:45 PM when a goods train heading towards Pune was climbing the Ghat section. According to railway officials, three engines were attached to the rear of the train to aid its ascent. While in motion, the rear wheels of the guard wagon came off the track, causing the wagon to derail.

No injuries or damage to other wagons were reported. However, the derailment led to a brief suspension of train movement along the stretch, affecting the flow of rail traffic between Mumbai and Pune.

Railway personnel were immediately alerted and rushed to the site near Monkey Hill station. Restoration work, including removing the derailed wagon and repairing the affected track section, continued into the evening.
