Pune Division Pays Tribute to Mahatma Jyotiba Phule on His Jayanti

Pune, 11th April 2025: Pune Division of Central Railway observed Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jayanti with a tribute ceremony held at the Divisional Railway Manager’s Office. The event was marked by the participation of Divisional Railway Manager Rajesh Kumar Verma, Additional Divisional Railway Manager P. U. Jadhav, and other senior officers and staff.

The ceremony began with floral tributes offered to Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, acknowledging his significant contributions to social reform in India.

Addressing the gathering, Divisional Railway Manager Verma spoke about Mahatma Phule’s role as a pioneer of equality, education, and empowerment. He noted that Phule, born in Pune on April 11, 1827, played a crucial role in advocating for the rights of the marginalized and promoting access to education.

Verma highlighted Phule’s efforts alongside his wife Savitribai Phule, including the establishment of the first girls’ school in Pune in 1848. He also mentioned the formation of the Satyashodhak Samaj in 1873, an organization aimed at promoting social justice and awareness among the masses.

Railway officers and staff were urged to draw inspiration from Phule’s life and integrate the principles of equality and justice into their professional and personal lives.

The ceremony concluded with attendees reaffirming their commitment to uphold the values championed by Mahatma Jyotiba Phule.
