Railways To Spend Over Rs 300 Crore To Redevelop 16 Stations In Pune Division

Pune 4th August 2023: The Railway Ministry has formulated a policy for major upgradation of railway stations across the country under ‘Amrit Bharat Station Scheme’. Under this scheme the railway stations will be completely developed. A total of 16 such stations have been nominated in the Pune division for the redevelopment under this scheme and the railways will spend Rs 303.78 Crore for it.

According to railway officials, railway stations at Kolhapur, Hathkanangale, Sangli, Karad, Satara, Wathar, Lonand, Talegaon, Dehu Road, Akurdi, Chinchwad, Hadapsar, Uruli, Kedgaon, Baramati and Phaltan over Pune division have been nominated for redevelopment under the scheme. The officials have been instructed to complete the work on priority.

“A total of Rs.303.78 Crores for Pune division have been provided in the year 2023-24 to execute various works under the scheme in Phase-1 which is expected to be completed within a year” the official statement of the central railway stated.

The execution of various works under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme has been entrusted to Gati Shakti Unit and various developmental works over Pune division under the scheme have already been sanctioned and agencies for execution are being appointed, said officials. The foundation laying stone ceremony for redevelopment of 508 Railway Stations under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, through video conference is planned to be carried out on 6th August 2023 at each of these stations. This function has been planned at 38 stations over Central Railways including 3 stations of Pune division including Kolhapur, Talegaon and Akurdi.
