Rain Returns To Pune, Heavy Rain Reported In Parts Of City
Pune 2nd Sept 2023: After a long dry spell, rainfall finally returned to Pune as most of the parts witnessed heavy rainfall on Saturday morning. The intense rain reported in a short period of time covered the majority of areas in Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad and rural parts.
According to officials, Bibvewadi, Kohrud, Peth areas, NIBM, Shivajinagar, Hadapsar etc. areas in city received heavy rainfall in the city while reports of heavy rainfall in Moshi in Pimpri Chinchwad and Maval Taluka of Pune rural were also reported. According to IMD officials, Cb(Cumulonimbus) cloud was developed on Friday in and around Pune. Though thunderstorm activity was not much but intense rain in a short period of time was witnessed.’
The IMD officials also said that the rainfall activity is a sign of partial revival of rain activity and it is likely to continue for the next couple of days. According to the official data, Shivajinagar recorded 19 mm rain till 9:05 am today while Chinchwad recorded 83.5 mm rain, Magarpatta recorded 54 mm, Lohegaon recorded 31.8 mm and Pashan recorded 12.2 mm rainfall.
